Stepping through the sliding doors, complete with their distinctive melodic chime, he was greeted by a bunch of colourful Family Mart balloons to mark the grand occasion, but that wasn\u2019t the only unusual thing about the place.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706109\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-2.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There on the table, he found the \u201cGrand Opening Lucky Bag\u201d, which was priced at a very reasonable 500 yen (US$3.47), so he immediately grabbed one to see what it contained.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706114\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-7.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706110\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-3.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The word \u201c\u798f\u888b\u201d (\u201cfukubukuro\u201d or \u201clucky bag\u201d) is usually reserved for <a href=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/2024\/12\/27\/whats-in-a-family-mart-lucky-bag\/\">blind-buy bags sold at New Year<\/a>, but a store opening is also a good time to bring them out for a celebration.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706111\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-4.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Feeling a flurry of excitement, Masanuki opened the lucky bag and peered inside\u2026<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706112\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-5.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What he found was a collection of goods worthy of a party.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lightly Salted Potato Chips (150 yen)<\/li>\n<li>Chocolate Filled Cream Puffs (138 yen)<\/li>\n<li>Bakauke Rice Crackers with Dried Green Laver Flakes (118 yen)<\/li>\n<li>Light and Airy Castella (128 yen)<\/li>\n<li>Aquarius sports drink (151 yen)<\/li>\n<li>Family Mart Pocket Tissues (not available for sale)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706113\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-6.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The value of the bag turned out to be 685 yen, which wasn\u2019t a bad return for the 500 yen he spent on it. Every item was a welcome addition to the snack cupboard, but out of everything, his favourite had to be the Chocolate Filled Cream Puffs, which he demolished in no time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-706115\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/06\/Family-Mart-Japan-lucky-bag-fukubukuro-what-to-convenience-store-must-buy-goods-news-8.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So if you ever spot a new convenience store pop up in your neighbourhood, it\u2019s always worth going in to take a look.
