That\u2019s an impressive milestone for an entertainment franchise, but their partner in their newest creative endeavor also knows a thing or two about staying consistently popular, as 2026 will mark <strong>Yamada Heiando\u2019s<\/strong> 107th year in business.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in Tokyo in 1919, Yamada Heiando specializes in <strong>lacquerware<\/strong>, and its reputation for beauty and quality is so strong that <strong>it counts the emperor of Japan and his family among its fans<\/strong>, as it\u2019s a supplier to the imperial household by royal warrant. You don\u2019t have to be a member of the nobility to own a piece of Yamada Heiando art, though, and showing that they\u2019ve got a playful side too, they\u2019re now offering lacquer bowls bearing the image of Pok\u00e9mon <strong>Swinub<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722958\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-2.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yamada Heiando and <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> first teamed up back at the start of the year, when they released <a href=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/2025\/08\/10\/century-old-japanese-lacquerware-company-picks-pikachu-for-line-of-high-class-pokemon-tableware\/\">lacquerware bowls bearing the likenesses of Pikachu, Dragonite, and the snake-like Ekans<\/a>, the later two chosen as part of an <strong>eto<\/strong> (Chinese zodiac animal) theming. Next came a bowl in August for Torchic (representing the Year of the Rooster), and now it\u2019s Swinub\u2019s turn, filling the Year of the Boar role.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722959\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-3.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Though the Ekans and Dragonite bowls were released right around the start of the Year of the Snake\/end of the Year of the Dragon, the designers have been kind of cherry-picking since then, as the next Year of the Rooster is 2029, and the next Year of the Boar isn\u2019t until 2031. Still, with Swinub looking this cute and elegant, you can\u2019t really be upset at him for showing up early, can you?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722960\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-4.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t let the sense of fun fool you into thinking that these are low-quality novelty goods, either. The Pok\u00e9mon bowls are made with the same dedicated care that Yamada Heiando puts into all their pieces, with <strong>skilled craftsmen with decades of experience turning the wood, layering on the lacquer, and then, as a finishing touch, applying gold powder, in a process called maki-e, to create the Pok\u00e9mon imagery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722961\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-5.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"425\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722966\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-10.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722962\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-6.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The bowls are 10 centimeters (3.9 inches) in diameter and 6.3 inches tall, with a steady base to prevent spills (as well as surface scratching tumbles off of shelves or desks where you might want to display them).<strong> Because of they\u2019re made of wood with a lacquer coating, the bowls stay cool to the touch even when filled with hot liquids such as miso soup, and they also come with a small lacquer spoon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722963\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-7.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They can also be <strong>customized with your name written maki-e-style<\/strong>, though there\u2019s a limit of six characters and it\u2019s not clear if Latin alphabet letters are an option.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc But really, it\u2019s hard to think of a more fitting reason to have your name written in Japanese then because you\u2019re putting it on the side of a piece of Pok\u00e9mon lacquerware.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722964\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-8.jpg?w=522\" alt=\"\" width=\"522\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u25bc The <em>Pok\u00e9mon<\/em> logo can be found on the underside.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-722965\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2025\/12\/pl-9.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"347\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As you can probably guess, handcrafted tableware from a company that supplies the imperial family doesn\u2019t come cheap, but at 17,600 yen (US$115), the Pok\u00e9mon Eto bowls are remarkably reasonable, as far as authentic lacquerware goes. They can be ordered, in black or red, through Yamada Heiando\u2019s website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yamada-heiando.jp\/c\/pokemon\/etokowan\">here<\/a>.
