Despite their long history, yokai still maintain a certain presence within Japan\u2019s cultural landscape, and continue to receive representations throughout <a href=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/2020\/02\/25\/disney-knows-what-yokai-are-teaches-japanese-vocabulary-word-to-donald-duck%E3%80%90video%E3%80%91\/\">modern entertainment and media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc Those little scamps.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725506 aligncenter\" Immersive Experience Exhibition<\/strong> gets a new stage in Tokyo this spring, from <strong>March 27, 2026 to June 28, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725490 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/01\/sub8_719c4d.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hosted in <strong>Tokyo\u2019s Tennozu area<\/strong>, the <strong>Hitohata-produced<\/strong> exhibition uses 3-D CG, projection mapping, and holographic screens <a href=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/2026\/01\/16\/immersive-ukiyoe-exhibition-in-osaka-adds-some-scented-flair\/\">the company is most known for<\/a> to breathe motion into classic images of yokai.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725507 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/01\/sub28.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unlike traditional museums, this museum <strong>encourages visitor participation<\/strong>, where you can <strong>take photos and videos<\/strong> alongside the animated yokai, or find yourselves surrounded by supernatural processions moving along the walls and floors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium intuitive<\/strong> and <strong>mostly non-verbal<\/strong>, making it <strong>easy to enjoy regardless of age or language ability<\/strong>, and when there is text to read, it is <strong>offered in both Japanese and English<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725498 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/01\/sub18.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With cooperation from the Nishio City Iwase Bunko LIbrary, Japan\u2019s first rare book museum, and the Yokai Art Museum on Shodoshima, the exhibition <strong>provides insight into how yokai such as the long-nosed tengu or the shapeshifting, many-tailed fox spirits developed from myth and superstition<\/strong> to become enduring cultural figures. <strong>Original ukiyo-e prints<\/strong> by famous artists such as <strong>Utagawa Kuniyoshi<\/strong> are on display, alongside famous themes such as the chaotic nighttime parade of spirits, the <strong>Hyakki Yagyo<\/strong>, and the candle-lit storytelling tradition of <strong>Hyaku Monogatari Kaidankai<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc\u00a0There are some centuries-old images of <a href=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/2023\/06\/22\/we-visit-kaiyodo-kappa-museum-dedicated-to-a-yokai-that-loves-cucumbers-and-human-souls\/\">kappa<\/a>, the soul-stealing river demons.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725496 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/01\/sub15.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Adding another layer of immersion to the mix are carefully crafted <strong>three-dimensional sculptures<\/strong> that allow visitors to encounter yokai up close.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725493 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/01\/sub12_4546cb.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From playful to imposing, these physical forms highlight <strong>expressive details and textures<\/strong> that digital projections are not able to capture.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-725503 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/01\/sub24.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tickets are being sold in advance at 2,400 yen (US$15.70) for adults up until March 26, the day before the exhibition starts, whereafter the price will go up to 2,600 yen. <strong>Advance tickets can be bought online<\/strong>, through sites like Rakuten Travel and KKDay, or by using 7-Eleven (P-code: 995-884), Lawson\/Ministop (L-code: 33418), and Family Mart machines (search by event name), and <strong>same-day tickets can also be
