{"id":4387,"date":"2026-02-06T22:00:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T05:00:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/catbradley.io\/?p=4387"},"modified":"2026-02-06T22:00:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-07T05:00:21","slug":"family-mart-releases-huge-range-of-cute-sweets-for-cat-day-in-japan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/catbradley.io\/?p=4387","title":{"rendered":"Family Mart releases huge range of cute sweets for Cat Day in Japan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726185\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-1.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Convenience store chain wants us to bite into paw pads and cat tails in this limited-edition 17-piece collection<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In Japan, <strong>cats<\/strong> are held in such high regard that they even have their own day dedicated to them, with <strong>22 February known as<\/strong> <strong>Cat Day<\/strong>, due to the way the numbers \u201cni ni ni\u201d (\u201ctwo, two, two\u201d) sound like \u201c<strong>nyan nyan nyan<\/strong>\u201d (\u201c<strong>meow<\/strong> <strong>meow meow<\/strong>\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>While it\u2019s an ideal day to spoil your special fur babies, it\u2019s also a day to treat yourself to the healing powers of cute cats, and convenience store chain Family Mart has some of the cutest products around, thanks to its annual <strong>\u201cFamily Nyart<\/strong> <strong>Daisakusen<\/strong>\u201d (\u201c<strong>Family Nyart Major Campaign<\/strong>\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Now in its fourth year, the campaign is set to begin on 10 February, and this time there are 17 products to choose from. We were lucky enough to receive 13 of the products from the chain for a preview tasting, so join us as we dive into the sweets to find out if they look just as good on the inside as they do on the outside.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc Let\u2019s start with one of the cutest of the bunch, the <strong>Strawberry Chocolate Tart<\/strong> (248 yen [US$1.58])<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726186\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-2.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As is often the case with convenience store sweets, the English description on the packaging leaves a lot to be desired when compared to the Japanese description. The Japanese here reads \u201c<strong>Nikkyu Tart<\/strong>\u201c, or \u201c<strong>Paw Pad Tart\u201d<\/strong>, which is a lot cuter than \u201cStrawberry Chocolate Tart\u201d, and when you take it out of its packaging, the delightfully spongy paw pad is there to greet you in the form of strawberry mousse. When you eventually bring yourself to slice into it, you\u2019ll find a smooth chocolate custard within, making for a treat that\u2019s cute, delicious, and definitely worth trying.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Mofusand Wafframe<\/strong> (250 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726187\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-3.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Like many of the products in the collection, this one features popular \u201c<strong>Mofusand<\/strong>\u201d cat characters created by illustrator Juno, who\u2019s been contributing to the campaign every year. You\u2019ll find one of 10 different designs in the white waffle \u201cWafframe\u201d frame, which is delectably chewy and filled with custard-flavoured cream. With one of 12 original stickers also included in the pack, this a treat you\u2019ll want to come back to, time and time again.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc\u00a0<strong>Sweet Buns with Caramel Bean Paste<\/strong> (195 yen for the two)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726188\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-4.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Japanese name for this sweet pair is \u201cFutago no Neko Manju\u201d (\u201c<strong>Twin Cat Manju<\/strong>\u201c), and it\u2019s a very cute take on the traditional Japanese sweet, which can be steamed or baked and is known for its soft, cake-like texture and sweet bean paste filling. These manju, moulded in the shape of cat faces, contain a delicious caramel-flavoured filling.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc<strong> Smooth Red Bean Paste Dorayaki<\/strong>\u00a0(211 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726189\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-5.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dorayaki are traditional Japanese sweets with a sweet bean paste filling and a similar taste and texture to pancakes. This one gets the cat\u2019s paw of approval, and with a chewy mochi hiding in the centre of the filling, it gets our approval too.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Sweet<\/strong> <strong>Potato<\/strong> (198 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726190\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-6.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Japanese name of this sweet is <strong>Paw Pad Sweet Potato<\/strong>, which is yet again far more intriguing than the chain\u2019s English translation. Whatever you call it though, it\u2019s a delicious paw filled with the comforting flavour of sweet potatoes, and a texture that\u2019s on par with expensive Japanese sweets.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Caramel &amp; Milk Cookie<\/strong> (145 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726191\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-7.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If we\u2019re to go by its Japanese name, \u201c<strong>Nyanko no Cookie Cyanyamel Milk Aji<\/strong>\u201c, this is not a caramel and milk cookie, it\u2019s a <strong>cyanyamel milk cookie<\/strong>. With \u201caji\u201d meaning flavour, \u201cnyanko\u201d being a cute name for \u201ccat\u201d, like \u201ckitty\u201d, and variations on \u201cnya\u201d referring to a cat\u2019s meow, this is a cookie with a lot of taste, and a lot of cute imagery.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Shippo Mitai na Cyaramel Cream Sando<\/strong> (178 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726192\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-8.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s interesting to note that some of the products don\u2019t have English printed on them, which is a shame as we\u2019d like to see this one with its literal translation of \u201c<strong>Cyaramel Cream<\/strong> <strong>Sandwich that Looks like a Tail<\/strong>\u201c. If you\u2019ve ever wanted to bite into the tiger-striped tail of a tabby cat, this one will satisfy your cravings, with a wonderfully soft texture, a milky dough, and a sweet caramel paste centre.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Happy Nyan<\/strong> (186 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726193\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-9.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A feline twist on <a href=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/2013\/04\/16\/the-five-most-popular-snacks-in-japan\/\">Happy Turn<\/a>, one of Japan\u2019s most popular snacks, the <strong>Happy Meow<\/strong> comes in corn potage flavour., with four cute cat packages to choose from.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Ramuneko Hi-Chew<\/strong> (257 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726194\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-10.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This catified Hi-Chew pack contains two flavours: \u201c<strong>Ramuneko<\/strong>\u201c, a play on Japan\u2019s iconic ramune, a non-alcoholic lemonade-like soda, and \u201cMuskyatto Soda\u201d, which blends muscat grape with the \u201cnya\u201d sound of a cat\u2019s meow.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc<strong> Nyanja Meshi Hagane<\/strong> (183 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726195\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-11.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is another cat takeover of a famous Japanese product, in this case \u201cNinja Meshi Hagane\u201d (\u201cNinja Steel Meal\u201d), a line of ultra-hard gummies with an intensely chewy, long-lasting, steel-like texture. The ninja warrior character synonymous with this range is joined on the pack by \u201cNyanja\u201d or \u201cKitty Ninjas\u201d for a cute take on the sweet, with kitty motifs appearing on chewy, peach-flavoured gummies.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Gogo no Kocha Oishii Mutou Ice Tea<\/strong> (170 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726196\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-12.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A Mofusand character brings kitty cuteness to Kirin\u2019s Gogo no Kocha (\u201cAfternoon Tea\u201d), but this one is \u201cOishii Mutou\u201d (\u201cDelicious Unsweetened\u201d), presumably because the cute cat provides all the sweetness you need.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Kuroneko Terrine Chocolat<\/strong> (248 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726197\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-13.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Black cats are the inspiration for this rich, dark, chocolate terrine, which has the taste and texture of a ganache chocolate so good it\u2019ll make you purr like a kitty.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc <strong>Cookies &amp; Cream Omelet<\/strong> (298 yen)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726198\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-14.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Known as <strong>Kuroneko no Omelet<\/strong> (\u201cKuroneko\u2019s Omelet\u201d) in Japanese, this is a dream collaboration with <strong>Yamato Transport<\/strong>, Japan\u2019s leading door-to-door delivery service company. Known colloquially as \u201c<strong>Kuroneko<\/strong>\u201d (\u201c<strong>Black Cat<\/strong>\u201c) due to its black cat logo, Yamato Transport has thrown its support behind the Family Mart campaign by collaborating on this special creation, which consists of a fluffy cocoa omelette with a cocoa crunch cream, topped with the Yamato\u2019s Kuroneko and Shironeko (\u201cWhite Cat\u201d) characters.<\/p>\n<p>\u25bc There are also Mofusand ice creams in the lineup, priced at 960 yen each, and if you buy two of them you\u2019ll receive one of these free acrylic charms.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-726199\" src=\"https:\/\/soranews24.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2026\/02\/Family-Mart-Japan-Cat-Day-convenience-store-food-sweets-cute-goods-news-15.jpeg?w=640\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The other items in the range are a whipped cream and bean paste sandwich (178 yen), and a sacoche and brownie set (2,220 yen) and tissue box (368 yen) adorned in cat designs by popular illustrator Coony.
