Even if you\u2019re not aiming for full-on caught-em-all Pok\u00e9mon Master status, any capable trainer knows that it\u2019s important to acquire a Pok\u00e9mon roster of diverse Types and skill sets, so that you\u2019re prepared for anything that an opponent might throw out against you in battle.<\/p>\n

And you knew where else diversity can be extremely desirable? Desserts.<\/p>\n

Japanese bakery chain Cozy Corner<\/strong> has a penchant for nine-piece cake sets<\/a>, and this time they\u2019re drawing from the ample inspiration available in the Pok\u00e9dex. Starting at the center of the above photo we\u2019ve got a Pikachu<\/strong> cake, banana-flavored and loaded with popping candy to recrate the tingle of his Thunderbolt<\/strong> attack.<\/p>\n

Also part of the set are Psyduck<\/strong>, whose confusion perhaps stems from the complexity of the lemon tea whipped cream\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026Jigglypuff<\/strong>, a tart made of strawberry custard (\u201cpurin\u201d being both the Japanese word for custard and Jigglypuff\u2019s name in Japan)\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026a chocolate caramel Eevee<\/strong>, complete with little Pok\u00e9 Ball cookie\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026a blueberry cream Ditto<\/strong>, with chocolate sauce facial features\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026a \u201csoda\u201d (citrus cider) Piplup<\/strong>, with a bit of extra mousse to recreate the Bubble Beam<\/strong> attack\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026Gengar<\/strong>, who bends the rules by escaping the bounds of cake-dom with what Cozy Corner describes as \u201ca gelatin with a suspicious aura\u201d<\/strong> and the taste of peach and grape\u2026<\/p>\n

\u2026and, finally, Charizard<\/strong>, unleashing a Flamethrower<\/strong> attack of mango whipped cream.<\/p>\n

Of course, no single Pok\u00e9mon species is as adored as Pikachu, and so the face of the franchise\u2019s face also is the muse for a larger, but still individual-sized, cake<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t just a scaled-up version of the Pikachu confection from the nine-piece set<\/strong>. Instead, it\u2019s a sponge cake with a custard cream topping and inner layers of whipped cream and caramel sauce.\"\"<\/p>\n

However, all of those delicious cream fillings and mousse toppings mean that these cakes probably won\u2019t keep very long or travel long distances very well. So if you\u2019re, for instance, looking for souvenirs to being back from a trip to Japan, the more practical option might be one of Cozy Corner\u2019s new sets of Pok\u00e9mon cookies, madeleines, and financiers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The eight-madeleine Eeeve Friends<\/strong> and 12-piece Party Box<\/strong> set, which also has edible illustration cookies and Pok\u00e9 Ball-shaped financiers, are both eye-catching, but the sturdiest, and easiest to reuse, container comes with the 10-piece Pikachu Can<\/strong> set.<\/p>\n

The cake set and individual Pikachu cake are priced at 3,654 yen (US$23) and 777 yen, respectively, while the baked goods bundles are 864, 1,512 and 1,890. While pre-purchases aren\u2019t explicitly required, between limited in-store quantities and the perennial popularity of all things Pok\u00e9mon, reservations are the smart strategy and can be made through the Cozy Corner website here<\/a> as of April 5 and until May 2, with in-store pickup dates available between April 10 and May 7.<\/p>\n
